Erratum (@erratum.studio ) is a performance-making duo, founded by Sascha Cowan and Hadrien Daigneault-Roy, dedicated to creating and producing original stage works. Established in Montreal in 2019 after their studies at the renowned École Supérieure de Théâtre de Montréal, the company has been based in Berlin since 2021.
Erratum’s work explores hybrid and cyborg bodies, drag as a contemporary stage language, and the intersection of visual and multimedia theatre. Their radical and genre-defying creations have been supported by institutions such as the Canada Council for the Arts, the Conseil des arts de Montréal, and the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe.
Since their award-winning debut production Just the Worst Time of the Year for a Revolution—an adaptation of Heiner Müller’s Hamletmachine—Erratum has presented work at venues such as Livart and Théâtre aux Écuries in Montreal. In Berlin, they’ve presented sold-out and critically acclaimed performances such as FAGGOT*S at Hošek Contemporary and the Berliner Ringtheater, while maintaining an active presence in the city’s underground scene through appearances at Buttons, Lecken, Whole Festival, and a wide range of other independent performance platforms
Their practice also extends internationally, with presentations at Galerie Nathalie Seroussi (Paris) and LALA (Athens). Their multi-award-winning short film DRAG YOU has been screened at over twenty festivals worldwide, including the Melbourne Queer Film Festival, Wicked Queer (Boston) and Transforma (Brazil).
In parallel, Erratum curates Wide Open, a series of queer experimental live art happenings at New Fears Gallery ( @wideopen.berlin ). The platform fosters embodied exploration for Berlin-based queer artists and serves as a community space held by and for Dykes, Trans and Faggots.
